Well, as hard as it is for me to say, I'm sure it won't come as a surprise to many of you... NEXT YEAR'S GIRL has run its course. I'm moving on to bigger and stranger things.
NYG has seriously been the best thing I've ever started in my whole entire life. It got me back into drawing, won me some terrific new friends, and somehow got my artwork into a friggin' Elvis Costello box set. I mean, seriously. It's given me hours and days and weeks of enjoyment, and the response has been so wonderful, nothing I ever expected when I bought my first COPIC markers in Chicago a few years ago and started playing around. I'm starting to need the 10+ hours I spend each week on NYG for my new comic pursuits (like The Rotten Ones), and like many autobio comics before mine, the ideas have been running dry lately. As much as I've loved this project, I'm really looking forward to this opportunity to get out of my own head for once.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my comic and sharing all of these amazing moments with me! I hope you'll keep in touch and keep track of my doings online and in the 'real' world. I'm only getting started in comics, and I can't wait for you to see what's up next. I'm working my butt off with the 2 Headed Monster comics crew to bring you some really great books, starting in April with our sampler, the Little Monsters EP.
